My mom has the worst luck with cameras. In the past 10 years she has lost 1 camera, had 2 cameras stolen, outgrew one (it used floppy disks and was HUGE), got pushed into the pool with one, lost one to Leah, and this past week, left her current pretty pink camera out in the rain... The camera that went into the pool dried out and actually worked for quite awhile before it finally quit. The current camera, not so much. So...no camera, no pictures, no pictures, no posts. Before buying a new camera my mom would like some suggestions from all of you on what camera to get. She's looking for high quality pictures to capture me in all my handsomeness without spending a fortune. Help us choose please!
UPDATE - So far, this is what my mom is leaning towards. It seems to have alot of the power of the SLR cameras with point and shoot convenience. The fact it uses regular batteries concerns her though.

mom uses a Nikon cooppix 22o and Dad uses a Nikon coolpix 230 with touch screen. They take great pictures and are fast to catch the action.

My Old Girl uses some kind of Nikon Coolpix. She likes it. I don't.
Your mom must have some kind of camera jinx. We have a Cannon powershot which seems very easy for my uncoordinated person to use. Unfortunately Ambrose recently chewed up the cable that goes from the camera to the laptop so we can't post any pictures right now either.
Your friend,
Niamh
Nikon D40 is what we suggest for you guys. It is a PAWSOME camera that lets you get high quality pictures ... as good at the advanced Ds but better Price-Wise...This camera was mainly introduced for customers who want a good quality pic but don't want to spend a fortune on it :) Good luck on whatever your mommy will buy for you

I have a Canon Powershot. Not exactly top of the line, but not bottom of the line, either.. you've been to my blog, you've seen the pics.. you judge! :) It cost me about $200.
I am all about the Nikon D40..
Happy Camera Shopping!

Hi, Pedro!
My mom has had bad luck with her cameras too!
Cameras here are very expensive, even the simple ones! She has an HP. Not the best but she can handle it!
Good luck!
Kisses and hugs

Love, Amore :]
Mum has 7 cameras. (she used to be a photographer). it depends on how much you want to spend... something with about 10-12mb and a 10x optical zoom will set you back about $300-$500 australian for a pentax or nikon.
Big licks to you

Hi Rambo,
Mom used to have a Canon Powershot but it quit working and didn't always take the best indoor pictures anyway. Now we have a cheap PENTAX Optio M50. Mom says it's not a bad camera for the price.

Hey lil bro,
Jessie says you definatley want something that is rechargeable. Cameras that use regular batteries will cost you a fortune.... in batteries that is!
XOXOXO

Sorry to hear that your mom's not too lucky with camera!! (Apologies but I must confess I laughed a little, just a little at the part where your mom lost a camera to Leah and got pushed into the pool with one.. LOL!!)
Our mom just uses whatever digital camera our dad buys.. as long as it can take photos, she's happy with it so her expectations are not high (very low if you ask me!)..
Dear Pedro,
I have no opinion about the camera but please ask your mom why our new parakeet is not singing, is he depressed/lonely, does she recommend getting him a partner?
Thanks Pedro!
My hooman used a fujifilm digital camera before. She said it's pretty good and not too costly. ;)

LS said she has used Canon Powershot and Kodak Easyshare. Sorry can't comment much cos she doesn't know much about cameras.
Haha, your mom has had a lot of cameras either dead, stolen, donated, sick or alive!
My mom uses camera Canon Power Shot SD 1100IS mostly on her paparazzi job, the lighter, the thinner the quicker the better.
My dad have a fancier one Canon EOS to shoot scenery while traveling, gosh, does it mean we're not worth the shots?
Oh no don't buy the regular battery, it costs your mom a fortune to capture all Pedro's cute acts!
Love y'all
What a bummer! I'd say don't get anything that uses batteries- they run out very quickly! I am a big fan of Sony; I've had a Sony cyber-shot for 8 years now, and even at that age it STILL rivals the newest digital cameras in quality. Also, the rechargeable lithium-ion battery still lasts almost two hours solid on one charge. It's great!
Good luck!!

Mom says that's a good camera. She has been saving up for a DSLR and she has narrowed it down to the XSi or the XTi. She says Canon is definitely the way to go (but she is very partial to Canons, BOL). The XS is also good and is a bit more affordable. There is a really great website that offers fantastic prices. Google B&H photo and you should find it.
Good luck! We can't wait to hear what your Mom decided on and see all the grrreat pics of you!

Pedro, it's horrible that your mommy has such bad luck with cameras! We're not that well-versed with cameras, so we can't give our input, but that looks like a cool camera! Word has it around this household that Mom wants a SLR sometime soon though...
Love,
Jemma
P.S. Let us know how your mommy likes the cam!
