Don't ask me why she was doing it, but yesterday my mom was looking at Petfinder, just looking. She does that every now and then to see if there are any Ziggy-looking dawgs out there. Some how she ended up looking at Bernese Mountain Dawgs. There were only 6 pages of them - dawgs like German Shepherds and Golden Retrievers have hundreds of pages. On page 5 she came across this handsome boy, Justin. According to his story,
"He was born 06/13/08. He likes children and other dogs. The breeder gave him up when he got too thin. He is only 58 lbs and should be 85. We had to pull all but 4 of his teeth because they were so rotten. His ears were absolutely filthy. We have given him stem cells to strengthen his liver function. He is a leaner. 12/30 He has gained 5 lbs and we are very hopeful. He has kidney issues which we are attempting to correct."
Something about Justin touched my mom's heart and she decided to do a small donation to Dirk's Fund (the people taking care of him). Today she got an email from Bob at Dirk's Fund saying Justin is staying with him and is eating three times a day. They hope he will survive - evidently he has kidney failure. Please send your thoughts and prayers out to Justin. Without ever having met him, we are so grateful that he ended up in a place where people are really dedicated to helping him. It makes me think of Khyra's mom and all the other wonderful people out there who are making such a difference in the lives of these animals. Thank you for caring!

Ah we hope Justin can get better,
it is great that people care and give the dogs a fighting chance.

Is it me or does he look like Marley?? I did a double take there and had to keep looking back at the pix.
Misery has a pal who is sponsoring a Great Pyrenees dog on Save A Dog on FB. He is called Justin :) and he had a pending adoption but it fell through - Misery and her pal were so sad.
There are too many dogs out there to rescue and save, wish we could help them all.
Your mom is a good person.

hey Pedro,
Justin is absolutely gorgeous! What a bittersweet story. My paws are crossed for him, and my human and I send tons of prayers his way that he survives his ordeal and heals. What wonderful people to sponsor him and help him through this time. And Pedro, your mom is very sweet to showcase Justin. The Power of the Paws creates miracles, so hopefully with so many now aware of Justin the Power of the Paws will help him.
