North vs. South
Or New York vs. Texas. You decide:
Texas leg warmers, Sam & Scooter.
New York leg warmers, ME & Natty.
That's my Mom in both pictures.

Like a WEED!
Marley is officially 7 months old. Still a cute little puppy right? WRONG! Marley went in for his fix-it surgery last week and when he stepped on the scale bells went off - 90.3 pounds! At this rate he will top off around 120 pounds. Good thing he's a gentle giant. Here are some pictures. Every time we blink, he grows...
The cone head is off now but in case you're interested, this is called a Bite Not Collar. My mom bought it because Marley was running into everything with the HUGE E-Collar he came home with. This collar allows full vision but still keeps him from biting and licking what he's not supposed to bite or lick! Two paws up for this product (free endorsement for a good product!)

Mom Visits JB!
I'm trying not to be jealous... I'm trying to be the bigger dawg... But it's hard... Why? Because my mom went to Texas a couple of weekends ago to visit the new human baby in our family - the little "Dude" is her great grand nephew. Doesn't that make her seem like she's about 102 years old?! Ha, ha! I assure you, she's not. Little Dude (that actually is his middle name) is so cute, if you like little humans (which you all know I do NOT). So, I'm not really jealous that she visited the human baby, what gets me is she visited JB the Texas Kitty and all her brothers and sisters (and of course the human lady too)! Now that just doesn't seem fair! I like cats - I live with 3 after all. So my nose is a little bent out of shape. Mom did snap some pictures for me though:
Gaia was the 1st cat to greet Mom. She came right out to say hello. She looks so much like Libby but the pictures my mom took didn't come out so you have to take my word for it (she is in the background of the picture above with Charlie).
After a little while Armani came out. He's huge! And Fluffy! And very, very friendly - kind of like Tommy!
JB waited awhile then decided to have a look to see what was going on. I can't believe Mom met the famous JB! I would have asked her for her pawprint!
Chester checked out the situation too.
And finally Charlie came out to say hi.
The only member of JB's Small World my mom didn't get to meet was Coco Bean. JB's mom say Coco Bean is a very shy girl and she hides under beds when strange humans visit. Mom was so happy to meet all the famous kitties from JB's Small World and it was great to see their mom again too!

New Year, New News
Mom's not much of a blogger any more so we've got months and months of updates here. Let me start by saying, January 17th is the one year anniversary of our loss of Ziggy. 2010 was filled with many ups and downs and though our hearts have mended some, we still miss Ziggy so, so much.
Over the summer, you may have remembered, we adopted a golden boy named Sonny. Sonny was only with us for about 6 weeks when we had to send him back. It was heartbreaking but he had something called small dawg aggression. The humans were very afraid for my safety, even though I loved Sonny. The good news is the family that fostered Sonny for 6 months before he came to us adopted him permanently. They said it was like he went on a little vacation then came back home. That made us all feel a little bit better and we wish Sonny all the best! The humans thought for quite awhile that they'd NOT bring another dawg into our home. They said I'm enough - YOU GOT THAT RIGHT! Being the King of the Castle, I was ok with that. Then one day in November Mom and Leah got a bug up their butts about getting a puppy. Dad was even on board. They had done all kinds of research for months and months after Ziggy left us and had decided that a Bernese Mountain Dawg most exemplefied the qualities Ziggy had. Bernese are good with small humans, love their people, are calm and steady and eager to please. In other words, brown nosers. Chihuahuas don't stoop to that level... So once they decided that a PUPPY would be the best route to take, the search began. I wish I could say it took a long time but it didn't. Right away they found a litter of puppies in Pennsylvania that were ready to go to their new homes and in a BLINK, I had a new brother.
Leah went to PA just before Thanksgiving and picked up Marley. We had Ziggy and now we have Marley - poetic? Marley was 18 pounds at 8 weeks old. He's now almost 4 months and over 40 pounds, on his way to around 100 or so. He's house trained (which the humans like to rub in my nose because I still have the occassional "accident"). He knows tricks - sit, shake, lie down, roll over, speak. Big deal I say! I know how to sit too! The really fun thing, I have to admit, is seeing how much he does remind us all of Ziggy. He's even kind of nice to snuggle up with for a nap.
In other news, Natty IS STILL WITH US! The V-E-T is shocked every month we call up to renew his high blood pressure medication. No one thought he'd make it until the end of October but here we are in January and he's not giving up.He's become a bit of a spoiled brat too! Mom won't let any one yell at him and gives him treats constantly so now he's almost impossible to live with. Poor Libby gets the brunt of it! We all think Natty thinks he's a dog. He runs around the house with Marley and even eats his food some times!
Libby and Tommy, our senior citizens, are hanging in there. Libby sleeps in the corner of the living room most of the time and doesn't go out much any more. Tommy still flits in and out and likes to give the stray cats a hard time. So we've gone through some sad times but made it through and 2011 is looking up. Thanks for stopping by - I hope all you dawgs and cats have a great New Year!

Sleepless Nights...
My mom has been suffering from something called insomnia, which evidently is a human-specific ailment since none of us 4-leggers have any trouble sleeping at all. The other night my mom slept for a total of 1 1/2 hours. She made it until all of 7:30 PM the next night before conking out. Too bad it didn't last all night though. She said she's got alot on her mind, worrying about Natty. I thought I'd share some pictures to show her how it (sleep) is done. Humans can learn alot from us dawgs and cats about successful sleeping.

Natty suggests cuddling up next to a furry friend for the best possible sleep. I've got that one covered for Mom since I'm always sleeping right next to her!
Sweet dreams!
