Cowboy, Patsy & Elvis
I don't know how it is in your neighborhood but in my neighborhood there has been a stray cat problem developing over the past few years. Every year one stray cat in particular has a litter or two of kittens. For two years my family caught as many as they could and took them to the local shelter hoping they would find homes (it is a no-kill shelter). My mom went to visit that shelter last fall and noticed that they are over-run with cats needing homes. The batch of kittens born last summer were getting big and we hadn't been able to catch them, so my mom and Leah started spending as much time as they could with them every day, feeding them and talking to them. Gradually, over several months, they got to the point where they could pet them. Mom contacted ARF of the Hamptons and got approval to have the 3 kittens fixed along with the mother and one kitten from the previous year that escaped capture back then. One by one with the help of her sister, my mom took the kittens (now nearly full grown) to our local vet to be spayed or neutered. Here is a picture of Cowboy.
You can see in the picture that his left ear has been clipped. That is how you can tell a stray cat has been fixed. This way, if someone else catches him they will know he has already been neutered. Cowboy's sister, Patsy, was spayed and she has her ear clipped too.
The 3rd kitten, Elvis, (I don't have a picture of him) was also neutered. Unfortunately, mom was never able to catch the mother and the son from the previous year. The mother had two more kittens this summer and now my mom is trying to befriend them. The mother is so smart that the have-a-heart trap won't work and she is very wild. My mom has been trying for FOUR years to make friends with her but no luck. Don't worry though, my mom NEVER gives up when it comes to helping animals!

Pedro?
My mom drove her truck out onto the beach on Saturday for a BBQ with her friends. Ziggy and I didn't get to go because she went there straight from work. When she got there she was introduced to a Puggle named Pedro! Can you believe that, a Puggle named PEDRO??? Mom took a bunch of pictures of him. He's pretty good lookin. My mom asked how his mom decided to name him Pedro and she said she had been watching alot of Spanish language television when she got him. Hmmm, ok.
Here are a couple pictures of some other people at the beach trying to keep the party rollin' in the rain. When the umbrella didn't cut it they really kept the party rollin', literally, by putting it in the truck!
After my mom was at the beach for about a half hour it started pouring so she and Judy opened the back of the Tahoe and sat and watched the rain and the ocean. In the mean time everybody else packed up and left! The weird thing is, they left Judy! All her stuff was in one of the trucks and they just left her. My mom couldn't believe it. About 10 minutes later Judy got a phone call asking where she was. Aaaaaaah, you guys LEFT HER ON THE BEACH IN THE RAIN! Mom said it was actually pretty funny and she gave Judy a ride home. They ended up going out to dinner with Judy's husband and Lissa. My mom had a delicious Black & Blue Mojito. I don't know what a Mojito is but it sounds like something someone named Pedro might like? I'll have to ask her to make me one.

Busy, Busy, Busy
It has been a hectic few days in my dawg house. Thursday was Leah's Senior Prom, Friday her father arrived from Montana, Saturday was her 18th birthday and Sunday was her Graduation and graduation party. There were so many people in my yard for the party I was a little freaked out. My mom had to hold me most of the time because I'm so darn cute and people just assume they can pet me and touch me and pick me up. Aaaaa, NO you can't! I don't like strangers and I certainly don't want strangers to touch me or pick me up. I give them warning growls but some of them were pretty dense and thought I was only kidding. My dad's cousin wanted to see if it would hurt if I bit him, so I did. He laughed but my mom and I didn't think it was funny. By the end of the party I was so tired that I kind of gave up and just followed my mom around everywhere. I even let a few people talk to me but I did have to chase one little boy up onto a cooler and give one little girl a fierce growl, but I didn't bite either one of them. So Leah is officially done with high school and is getting ready to leave the nest and go off to college in August. Here are some pictures of her big days.
Ready for prom - looking very Hollywood!
Happy 18th Birthday! Now Leah can rock the vote!
Getting that all-important piece of paper! Woo Hoo!!!
The most AWESOME graduation cake I've ever seen! My mom said it tasted as good as it looked. She didn't share with me though - NOT FAIR!!

Designer Dawgs
It looks like alot of different kinds of dawgs are jumping on the chihuahua bandwagon. Look at how good lookin these dawgs are with some chihuahua in them! Mom looked online for pictures and says there are lots more combinations out there than the ones we've listed here. My mom's favorite is the Chug. All I know is when you add chihuahua to the mix you can't go wrong!

It's a Boy!
My mom's niece, whose wedding she went to last month in Texas, is officially a mom! Can you believe it? I bet you never would have thought when looking at those pictures that she would be a mom in less than a month! Well here is a picture of her bouncing baby boy. Baby Scooter, a handsome little doxie, weighs in at 4 pounds, 3 of which are his ears! Hmmm, I think he might have inherited those ears from Papa Sid!

Congratulations on your new addition Crissy and Daniel!

P'd not Peed

Jackson and Patrick's mom showed this picture to my mom and she suggested I was actually being helpful when I P'd (get it?) on my mom's computer. See, I am a good dawg after all! Thanks for pointing that out Sarah!
Note from Pedro's Mom: I might have bought that argument if either of you actually peed where the "P" is on the keyboard, but you didn't. Nice try though.
